William "Billy" Cribbs Obituary

William Charles “Billy” Cribbs age 67 of Westville (Brockway, Pa) passed away peacefully in his home with family on February 10, 2023 following a brief but hard fought battle with illness. Born in Quantico, VA on a Marine Base to parents William (Bill) Cribbs who survives and Hazel Eileen (Kroh) Cribbs who precedes him in death. Billy had two sisters: Shirley (Nelson) Cribbs who also precedes him in death and Alberta (Haag) Cribbs as well as a brother Kyle Cribbs whom both survive. A 1974 graduate of Williamsville North High School in Buffalo, NY; Billy spent most of his career as a building contractor. He is most known as the family business owner/operator of Cribbs Contracting where he completed projects large and small in the area. It was through his work where he met lifelong friends by being fair, honest and hardworking. Billy lived a simple but happy life. He was a person people were glad to see with a contagious laugh and one-of-a-kind special grin. Over the last 13 years, Billy dedicated his life as the president and acting bar manager of the Brockway Orient Club which he assisted in moving, re-building and organizing following a fire that destroyed the business. In addition to investing countless hours volunteering in the day to day operations, he also facilitated and encouraged participation in various non-profit activities and funding needs throughout the community, for example Make a Wish, Serving up Support, Suicide Prevention, Brockway Kaimanns, area children’s sports activities and countless others. Billy was a lifelong member of the Brockway Orient Club, member of the Sandy Hose Club, The Big O Club, FOE Falls Creek, the Fireman’s Club and VFW Post 813 which he was the main contractor for the building. Billy is “Dad” to two daughters he leaves behind. Heather (Keith) Smith and Julie Stancliffe both of Knoxdale. He is “Papa Bill” to six grandchildren: Bryant Palmer; Avarea, Braidon and Alaina Smith; Rylee and Ian Stancliffe and four great-grandchildren Sophiya Palmer; Connor, Ellie and Kohen Anderson. Billy also leaves numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Through the good and the bad years, Billy was a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. He enjoyed watching Penn State afternoons and shuffle board Sundays with friends. Work was play for Billy. He could often be seen helping at the Orient Club or friends and family with projects while enjoying their company.  Having held a hopeful and giving soul, Billy welcomed everyone into his life, often even sharing his own home with those who had no home of their own. Denoting endearing friends new and old as “Buddy” or “Dear” everyone Billy met was a friend. He will be deeply missed by all, leaving long-lasting, fun, cherished memories with so many. The Family would like to express their utmost gratitude to the Penn Highlands Community Nurses Hospice, the Hahne Cancer Center Team, Dr’s Rodney Landreneau, MD; Ghassen Bajjani, MD; Rajesh Rao, MD; Gregory Sachs, DO and all those that were involved with Billy’s care for their dedication to their own profession and the swift care he received during his illness. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brockway Orient Club on Saturday February 18, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Condolences or donations in memory of can be sent to the Brockway Orient Club Special Events Committee, Penn Highlands Community Nurses or the Hahne Cancer Center.
