William Miles Carlson, 79, of McEwen Run Road, Brockway, died on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Penn Highlands DuBois. Bill was born on March 22, 1935, at the home of his parents John and Faye (Bloom) Carlson, in Elbon, PA. He was married to Dorothy (Snookie) Lundberg on May 29, 1971.  Bill’s “Dorothy J” survives and was his devoted caregiver for several years. He was a veteran of the Korean War & a Mason. He worked as a chemist at Ridgway Color for a number of years.  As the co-owner of C&R Trucking with Dave Renwick and later as the owner of Carlson Trucking, he hauled coal for many years throughout western PA & NY.  Bill also was the owner of the Carlson Outlet.  He was the President of the Board of Directors of Allegheny Powdered Metallurgy, Inc.  As a younger man, Bill was well-known as a baseball pitcher & a saxophone player. He enjoyed vacationing with friends and in-laws at his camp in Colorado and at the beach with his & Snookie’s family and his Lundberg family.  Throughout his life, he brought joy to his many friends & brother-in-laws as the most entertaining of story-tellers.  His fishing trips to Canada with his brother-in-laws were legendary. He loved people.  He loved-and was loved by-his children, grandchildren and all who knew him. In addition to his wife Dorothy, Bill is survived by 8 children:  Richard Heverley (Judy), Randy Heverley (Brenda), Vicki Snedden, Darlene Bortmas (Larry), Lori Sheasley (Ken), Jonah Carlson (Ashleigh), Kim Ezell (Al), and Karen Carlson, by 4 brothers:  Jim, Jack, Gary, & Danny and by a sister, Donna Buchert.  He is survived by 14 grandchildren & 18 great-grandchildren. Our lives are all diminished by Bill’s passing.  In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Curt Carlson. Calling Hours are Wednesday, October 29th at the Lanes Mills United Methodist Church (Bill & Snookie’s home church) from 10:00am to 11:00am-with the funeral service at the Church at 11:00am with Pastor Bob Trask officiating. The place of burial will be the Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway. Memorial donations may be made to the Lanes Mills United Methodist Church or to the American Diabetes Association.
