Phyllis Rose Anderson age 89 went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2023. She was born on December 7, 1933 in Port Barnett (Jefferson County) to the late Daniel F. and Edith McAdoo Uplinger. She was the youngest of ten children. In 1940, her family moved to Kearney Road in Brockway. Memories of growing up on the street always held a special place in her heart. Phyllis was a member of the Moorhead United Methodist Church exceeding 80 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher for over 20 years, had perfect attendance for more than 15 years and was church secretary for several years. She knitted and crocheted hundreds of baby sweaters and afghans for DuBois NICU. She also made over a 1000 hats and scarves for homeless people in Pittsburgh and anyone in need. Phyllis worked at numerous small family owned businesses in Brockway as a sales clerk, waitress, cook and baker. One of her favorite jobs was at Gillung’s Pharmacy. She was lovingly called Mom, Mum and Grammer by many friends of her children and grandchildren. Phyllis is survived by 4 children: Lowell (Denise) Anderson of Millersville, PA; Paula (Tom) Deemer and Donna Inzana both of Brockway; Paul (Keli) Anderson of Elizabethtown, PA. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a sister Jean Siple of Farmington, MN and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Calling hours will be on Friday, February 3 from 9 AM to 11 AM at the Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating. Burial will follow in the Brookville Cemetery where Phyllis has requested friends and family sing Amazing Grace.
