Nick Verne Jr.

Nick Verne Jr., age 94, a life-long resident of Bond Street Brockway, PA; passed away peacefully on June 30, 2026 at Seaton Springwood Retirement Community in York, PA. 

Born on April 1, 1932, Nick was the son of Nick and Filonilla Cipolla Verne Sr. He spent most of his life in Brockway, Pennsylvania, where he built a life centered on family and hard work.

Nick dedicated more than 40 years of faithful service to Owens-Illinois (O-I), where he worked as a Project Engineer. Throughout his career, he was known for his exceptional work ethic, and commitment to excellence.

A proud veteran, Nick served his country in theater during the Korean War as a Vehicle Parts Specialist. He carried the values of service and dedication with him throughout his life.

Nick found his greatest joy outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and tying fishing flies. Whether he was tending to his garden, blueberry bushes, or sharing stories after a day on the water, he cherished the simple pleasures of life and the time spent with family.

Nick is survived by his three children: Andy (Diana) Verne of San Diego, CA, Paul (Antoinette) Verne of Battle Ground, WA, and Barbara Trimbur of York, PA. He also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will remember his kindness, wisdom, and witty sense of humor.

In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by a son-in-law David Trimbur, his grandson Nick A. Verne, and his 10 brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 8 from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 9 at 11:00 AM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Honor Guard.
