Lyle John Mooney age 78 of Mooney Drive Brockway, PA; died on Sunday February 9, 2025 at Penn Highlands Clearfield. Born on May 29, 1946 in DuBois, PA; he was the son of the late Earl and E. Gwendolyn Tobin Mooney. On June 3, 1972 he was married to Judith A. Shaffer and she preceded him in death on November 12, 2010. Retired, Lyle was employed at Butler Trucking as a commercial truck driver and prior to that had over 20 years at Timber Trucking hauling railroad ties from the Falls Creek plant. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and a member of Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion. He also was a member of the Crenshaw Community Church and the V.F.W. Club. As a younger man Lyle enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mostly after his retirement he enjoyed farming with his sons raising Angus Cross beef cattle. When he wasn’t farming, he just enjoyed sitting on the back porch watching the cows. He is survived by sons William (Melissa) Mooney and Scott Mooney both of Brockway; sisters Ruth Mooney of Philadelphia, PA; and Ethel Freemer of Luthersburg, PA. Lyle is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by a brother George Mooney. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 13 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 14 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor Faith Bryan officiating. Full Military Honors will be accorded by members of the Parson-Marnati Post #95 Funeral Detail Friday morning at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville. Memorial donations may be made to the Crenshaw Community Church.
