Leona F. Mowrey

Leona F. Mowrey age 94 a resident at Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor in Brookville, PA; died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Born on May 15, 1930 in Stump Creek, PA; she was the daughter of the late John and Pauline Swigonski Felczak. Leona was a 1948 graduate of the Sykesville High School graduating as class Salutatorian. On May 26, 1951 she was married to Clarence “Harold” Mowrey and he preceded her in death in 2015. Leona was a homemaker with a passion for gardening, and always raised beautiful flowers. Leona was also a wonderful quilter, and made many quilts entirely by hand over the years. She was also known for her wonderful pies, and anyone that ever enjoyed a piece will never forget how delicious it was. Leona was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a nephew John (Susan) Felczak of Brockway, who looked after her when her husband passed away, several nieces and nephews, and her wonderful neighbor and friend Glenda. All services for Leona will be private. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Punxsutawney. The family would like to thank the special staff members at Jefferson Court for the care they provided, and also Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice for their caring support.
