Kayleen "Kay" Hidinger Obituary

Kayleen D. “Kay” Hidinger age 84 previously of Westville Road Brockway, currently a resident at Nelson’s Golden Years in DuBois, died on Wednesday, March 5,2025 at Penn Highlands DuBois. Born on October 5, 1940 in Brockway, PA; she was the daughter of the late Owen Brownlee and the late Eileen Steele Gratton. On May 23, 1959 she was married to Gary R. She also worked as a Care Aid at the DuBois Nursing Home for several years. She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brockway. Kay enjoyed quilting, playing scrabble, going to garage sales and taking trips to the beach. She also enjoyed collecting lighthouses and having coffee with her friends. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Even though the years passed by and her health declined, Kay never stopped smiling at life’s bumps, making up and singing songs as the days passed by, and she never stopped humming away, day after day after day. She is survived by 5 children: Peggy (David) Campbell of Brockport; Penny (Paul) Verne of Brockway; Connie (Phillip) Buffone of Brockway; Eric (Joy) Hidinger of Brockway; Rusty Jo (Dustin) Fitzgerald of Vowinckel, PA; step-sisters Patty Luker and Cindy Lindemuth both of Brookville; a step-brother Owen Brownlee Jr. also of Brookville; grandchildren: Douglas Smith, Megan Bish, Andrea Bassetti, Michael Verne, Matthew Verne, Christian Verne, Daniel Buffone, Nicole Papa, Wesley Buffone, Jenna Serafini, Erica Strouse, Dylan Hidinger, Austin Hidinger, Mariah Cummings, Brittany Fitzgerald and Jesse James Fitzgerald. She is also survived by 28 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by an infant son Alan Hidinger, a sister Nancy Fleshman and a brother James Brownlee. Visitation will be on Friday, March 7, 2025 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 AM at the Christian Missionary Alliance Church also in Brockway, with Rev. Tom Henretty officiating.
