Kathryn "Kay" Raybuck

Kathryn Ann “Kay” Raybuck age 77 of Walnut Street Brookville, PA; a former Allens Mills Road resident, passed away after a very brief illness at Penn Highlands Brookville on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Born on February 1, 1948 in Goheenville, PA; she was the daughter of the late Henry and Emma Lois Comer Schrecengost. On August 26, 1972 she was married to Edward I. Raybuck and he preceded her in death on July 8, 2015. Retired, Kay had been employed as a Registered Nurse in the Maternity Ward at Penn Highlands DuBois. After her retirement she went on to work at the Christian Book and Gift Shop on Main Street in Brookville. She was a member at the Hazen Methodist Church. Kay enjoyed reading, and was very well known for her baking skills, especially her apple dumplings and monster cookies. Charitable works and in particular missionary work was a very important part of her life. She made many trips over the years to Haiti, even into her later years of life. She is survived by 4 daughters: Paula (Paul) McPhail of Chandler, AZ; Andrea Shaffer of Brockway; Emily Shaffer of Brookville and Alisa (Jeremy) Johnson of Falls Creek; sisters Dorothy (Randy) Howard and Nan (David) Miller both of Brookville; a brother Martin Schrecengost of Williamsport, PA; a sister-in-law Linda Schrecengost of DuBois; grandchildren Ava McPhail, Mara McPhail, Paul McPhail III, Holden Shaffer, Eliza Shaffer, Curtis Johnson, Jewell Johnson, Tatum Cubbon, Connor Cubbon and Taylor Raybuck. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by a brother Tom Schrecengost. Visitation will be on Sunday April 13 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway, and again from 10 AM till 11 AM Monday April 14 at the Hazen Methodist Church. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Pastor Don Henderson and Pastor Joni Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Beechwoods Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Hazen Methodist Church 6178 Route 28 North Brookville, PA 15825.
