Joseph L. Hrinya passed away May 31st after a short bout with cancer. Born October 5th 1951 in Dubois to Ed and Betty (Galbreath) Hrinya both preceded him in death. Joe worked his entire life (45 years) in the waste industry. He started working alongside his dad for Morrison Sanitation and then continued to work in the many name changes the company went through (Varischetti, BFI, Superior, Onyx, Veolia, ADS, WM). Joe was a very dedicated employee, rarely ever missing work. One of Joe’s passions was bowling. He was involved in many leagues throughout the years and holds the record for the highest game ever bowled at Timberlanes (Brockway) bowling a 299, That one pin just wouldn’t fall. Joe also played softball for several area teams. Joe was a coach for many years with Brockway Senior League leading the 1977 All-Star team to the first district championship. Joe never drove a car in his lifetime but that never stopped him. Joe loved visiting Las Vegas the most, not just for the casinos, but for everything around it. From Vegas Joe would visit California, Arizona, but also the place he loved the most, Hoover Dam. Joe is survived by two sisters, Margaret (David) Wilson of Reynoldsville, Teresa (Jeff) Faust of Brockport and five brothers Leo of Del Ray Beach Florida, Tom (Bonnie) of Salem, Virginia, Paul and Donald of Dubois and William of Brockway. Joseph is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins which he loved very much. Joe will be missed by many. Viewing will be from 11 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday June 4th 2025 at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. There will be a short service after the viewing with Rev. Dr. Victor Baxter officiating. Burial will be in St. Tobias Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
