John S. Scarnati

John S. Scarnati, age 77 of Millcreek Twp., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 23, 2022.  He was born in Brockway, PA on May 3, 1945, a son of the late John C. and Agnes (Rendos) Scarnati.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judith A. Scarnati. John graduated from Brockway High School and furthered his education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he played football.  He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, and was stationed in Germany.  He started his working career with Bankers Life and went on to establish his own business, Scarnati Insurance Services, which he successfully ran for thirty years.  John will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and hardworking family man who enjoyed golf, the Pittsburgh Steelers and his pies, cakes, cookies and (especially) ice cream.  John is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gretchen (Kesselring) Scarnati; two daughters, Theresa (Christopher Paulson) Scarnati and Victoria Scarnati and her fiancée, Tyler Freeland; two sons, Stephen (Brauna) Scarnati and Sean Scarnati; he was very blessed with three grandchildren, Sarah, Angelina and Emmett and one great-grandson, Calvin.  Friends may call at the Dusckas-Martin Funeral Home & Crematory Inc. 4216 Sterrettania Rd. Erie, PA 16506 on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and are invited to a Funeral Mass on Friday at 10:00 AM at St. Jude Catholic Church.  Further visitation will be held on Saturday July 30, 2022 at Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home 1033 4th Ave.  Brockway, PA 15824, from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow at St. Tobias Cemetery in Brockway, PA.
