Obituary

John Thomas Marshall, 72, a lifelong resident of Brockport, Pa., died peacefully on June 23, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois of complications related to advanced diabetes.

He was retired from Owens-Illinois (formerly Owens-Brockway, Brockway Glass) where he worked in the maintenance department for more than 40 years.  A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the U.S. Army Reserves.  

He is survived by two sons, John (Tracy) of Richmond, Virginia, and Brian (Alexandra) of Tampa, Florida, and three grandchildren, Julia, Xavier and  Emma; brothers Richard Marshall of Brockport, James Marshall (Donna) of Brockway; and sister Susan Starkey (Joe) of Pittsburgh; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marian Marshall, sister Mary Ann; and longtime partner Linda Chemsak.
 
Known for his quiet demeanor, John enjoyed spending time socializing with friends as a member of the Brockway V.F.W. Club and Horton’s Sportsman’s Club.  

A private burial service will take place at St. Tobias cemetery in Brockway and a memorial celebration of John’s life will occur at a later date.  Memorial gestures may be made to the American Diabetes Association at diabetes.org.
