John V. Beningo age 81 of 5th Avenue Brockway, PA; died on February 10, 2023 at Penn Highlands DuBois. Born on January 15, 1942 in DuBois, PA; he was the son of the late John and Ann Camise Beningo. John worked in his early years at Montressor’s Market in Brockway. He also worked many years and retired from Brockway Pressed Metals. John was a 1962 graduate of the Brockway High School. He was not only a car mechanic, but was also gifted in wood working and carpentry. John was well known for his dune buggy and loved the classic cars. John loved his friends. He was the kind of guy who would reach out to someone who would need help. He seemed to have a rough way of talking but had a big warm heart. John definitely earned a Masters degree in friendship. He was a lot of fun and shared good times with whoever had the opportunity to meet him. He was a Nascar fan and a Pittsburgh Steeler fan. In his teenage years, a bus would leave Brockway to the Reynoldsville Skating Rink and John could skate with the best of skaters. He won a dance contest (The Twist) at the Brockway Park. He played golf, enjoyed skiing, hunting and cooking. He worked at the carnival at the Brockway Park and people still talk whatever booth he worked, he made everyone have so much fun. John had been a member at St. Tobias Church. He is survived by a brother Joseph Beningo of Ruther Glen, VA; a sister Phyllis Savoia of DuBois; two children John Beningo of Fair Oaks Ranch, TX; Amber Beningo of Brockway; grandchildren: Emily, Chelsea, Gage, Xavier and Xander. One of the last conversations I had with my brother John, he expressed how wonderful his life has been. To all his friends he would say to each of them “Remember all the good times we had together. We will meet again.” Calling hours will be on Wednesday February 15 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 16 at 10:00 AM at St. Tobias Church also in Brockway with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Tobias Church 1135 Hewitt Street Brockway, PA 15824.
