John Joseph Barber age 79 of Brockway, Pa passed away on December 19th, 2025 after a lengthy battle with cancer. John was born on October 2, 1946 in DuBois Pa. He was the son of Alphonso "Legs" and Shirlee (Johnston) Barber.
John graduated from Brockway High School in 1964 and went on to attend Pennsylvania State University, majoring in engineering. After graduation, John worked as an engineer in the New Products and Development department for Brockway Glass Company. He then worked for Owens Illinois as a laborer in the batch and furnace house until his retirement. After retirement John could be found refinishing antiques, hunting, at yard sales and auctions, cooking or spending time with his beloved Irish Red & White Setter Jay-Jay and his cat Annabella. John truly was a jack of all trades. He always said..."If you can do Math, You can do Anything!" John could build anything, including his camp, that was near and dear to his heart.
John is survived by his wife Karen (Yale) Barber - "Qweeny" whom he married on November 5, 1984. Together, they built a life based on having fun, happiness and the love they shared for each other. John is also survived by a brother Rick Barber, Brockway Pa and a Sister-in-law Donna (Bill) Wineberg of Easton, Pa. In addition, John is survived by his children, David Barber, Mary Ann Barber (Andrew), Suzanne (Eddie) Hynds, and Joseph Barber. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason (Katelyn), Benjamin (Marissa), Angelina (Ricky), Callie, Maria and Jack, as well as several nieces and nephews.
John is preceded in death by his parents and his mother and father-in-law Donald and June Yale.
There will be no public visitation. A private funeral service will be held with Pastor Clyde May officiating. Burial will be in the Mountain Cemetery in Brockport.
