Gloria Mae Johnson Obituary

Gloria Mae Johnson, age 94 died peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 25, 2022 at DuBois, PA. She had been a resident of Brockport for 73 years prior to moving to DuBois in March 2021. She was married to Robert L. Johnson in 1948 and they were married for over 49 years. He preceded her in death in August 1997 at age 69. Survivors include both of her children, Dennis Johnson of DuBois and Mrs. Sebastian (Deborah) Ferraro of Montgomery, AL; and one grandson, John Ferraro of Millbrook, AL. Gloria, the eldest daughter of Albert and Lena (Keough) Unsworth, was born in Granville, a mining town near Brockway, PA on October 2, 1927. Her sister, Alberta (Collins), who was six years younger, preceded her in death in October 2005. Gloria was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was also the last survivor of her husband’s siblings and their spouses. “Aunt Gloria” leaves behind six nieces and three nephews in the Brockway/DuBois area, New York and Florida. Gloria loved the Lord and knew him as her personal Savior. As a young mother she taught the second grade Sunday school class at Brockport Methodist Church for many years. She was a member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Brockway, PA. Gloria was a homemaker, and loved flowers and gardening, often starting her vegetable plants from seeds inside her home in the early spring. Thank you to her family, church family and friends for the many cards sent to Gloria over the years. She enjoyed them all. A special “Thank You” to Jackie, Dawn and the entire staff at Nelson’s Golden Years in DuBois for their love and wonderful care of our family. You have been a real blessing to us! Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway, PA. A “Celebration of Life” service will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Andy Verner officiating.
