Genevieve "Keeker" Benson

Genevieve “Keeker” Benson age 96 formerly of Bond Street Brockway, currently a resident at Highland View Health Care in Brockway, was greeted by heaven’s angels and taken to a place that eye has not seen and ear has not heard in the early morning hours of December 8, 2020. Born on February 9, 1924 in Brockway, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Clara Lescovensky Jose. Keeker was a 1942 graduate of the Brockway High School. On May 22, 1943 she was married to J. David Benson and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1993. She was a homemaker. Keeker was a member of St. Tobias Church and the Rosary Society. She also was a member of Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Brockway Tops Club.  She loved bird watching, growing flowers, making fudge and listening to music from her era.  She also enjoyed painting ceramics, playing bingo, bowling, and dancing especially the Jitterbug and Polka.  On Sunday afternoons she loved watching Ice Skating on TV as well as watching the Pirates and Steelers. Keeker also loved her hair do day and going for pizza with the girls afterwards. She also was very faithful in sending out greeting cards and also enjoyed receiving them. More than life itself, Keeker loved her family. She is survived by 5 children: Carole Arnold of Mercer, Pa; Linda (Francis) Morelli of Brockway; David (Emma) Benson of Brockway; Cindi (Gary) Byers of Sharon, Pa; and Robert (Kimberly) Benson also of Brockway; Grandchildren: Wende Hoover, Fran Morelli Jr; Amy O’Donnell, Stephen Hoover, Darren Morelli, Michael Morrison, Eric Benson, Ryan Benson, Dana Thomas, Katie Benson, Jon Benson Great Grandchildren who affectionately called her GiGi: Dakota Lawrentz, Preston Hoover, Avery Hoover, Annalyse Hoover, Chad O’Donnell, Cassidy O’Donnell, Kaitlyn Morelli, Ciara Morelli, Kyle Morelli, Tanner Morelli, Savanah Morelli, Tanzleigh Murray, Brayden Thomas, Oliver Benson, Emily Benson and Jenevieve Benson. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by an infant son David Benson, an infant granddaughter Mary Beth Hoover, 2 brothers John and Bob Jose, a sister Gertie Fustine and a son-in-law James Arnold. Keeker was the last surviving member of her immediate family. There will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 12 at 11 AM at St. Tobias Church with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Social distancing protocols will be in place and masks are required. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.
