Gary James Wrighter age 74 of Cross Road Brockport, PA; died on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at his residence. Born on November 14, 1950 in DuBois, PA; he was the son of the late John and Grace Smith Wrighter. On October 19, 1991 he was married to Tammy Shirey and she survives. Gary was employed at Penn Highlands Brookville in the Maintenance Department. He served in the U.S. Airforce and is a Vietnam Veteran. Gary was a member of the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching wildlife from his porch and especially taking trips to the beach. His greatest joy and relaxation came from simply being at home. In addition to his wife, he is also survived by 3 sons: Douglas Wrighter of Pittsburgh, PA; Nicholas Jared Wrighter and Joshua Ervin Wrighter both of Brockport; an aunt Lorraine Duttry of DuBois; nieces Kim (Rick) Baughman, Kelly (Bill) Berry, Brandy Giles and Vickie; nephews Tate (Whitney) Anthony, John Giles; grandchildren Jade Wrighter and Ethan Wrighter; his father-in-law Melvin Shirey Jr. of Brookville; sister-in-law’s Pam (Chris) Zents of Brookville and Holly (Steve) Fish of Rockton, PA. In addition to his parent’s, he is also preceded in death by 2 brothers Ervin and Buddy Wrighter, 3 sisters Maxine Wrighter, Joann Anthony, Maggie Potempa and his mother-in-law Beverly Dinger. Visitation will be on Monday, August 11 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 12 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastors Dave & Emily Koehler officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Hahne Cancer Center 100 Hospital Avenue DuBois, Pa 15801; any Veterans Organization or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
