Frances "Pat" Erickson

Frances Patricia "Pat" Erickson age 93 of Main Street Brockway, passed away on Friday January 11, 2019 at Highland View Health Care Center. Born January 21,1925, in Penfield, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth McKissick. Charlie, her beloved husband and soul mate for 58 years, passed away in 2013. Pat attended school in Penfield, graduating in 1942.  Following high school, she graduated from Miss Wharton’s School of Business in Williamsport, PA, and began her career as a bank teller in Jersey Shore, PA.  She also worked for several years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in DuBois. Pat ended her professional career at her all-time favorite job, working at Brockway’s Mengle Memorial Library, retiring at the age of 86. As a faithful member of St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church, Pat volunteered for numerous volunteer activities including the Church’s CCD program and the Rosary Society. Other volunteer work included delivering Meals on Wheels and assisting with the Girls Scouts in Brockway. Pat had numerous hobbies; she was passionate about reading and loved crossword puzzles, completing The New York Times’ puzzles in record time.  Pat was also an outstanding cook, vowing to feed everyone who crossed her home’s threshold. However, her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Pat is survived by her son, John (Val) Erickson of Brockway and two daughters; Mary Rita (Steve) Brown of DuBois; Francie (Dave) Spigelmyer of Cranberry Township. She is also survived by her cherished sister, Joanie Georgino of Penfield. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive; Ian (Bobbie Jo), Leslie and Rachel Erickson; Maura (Brendan) Johnson, Mallory, Meghan, and Matt Brown; John and Suzanne Spigelmyer; Sloane Johnson, Samantha and Max Erickson.  Pat also leaves behind several adored nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her precious daughter, Janice Erickson; her two brothers, Bob and Bill McKissick; and her sister, Jane Kinkead. Calling hours will be on Thursday, January 17th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18 at 9:30 AM at Brockway’s St. Tobias Roman Catholic Church with Monsignor Charles Kaza presiding. A Vigil will be held Thursday evening at 7:45 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St.Tobias Cemetery.
