Eileen Marie Hughes

Eileen M. Hughes age 97 a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio currently a resident of Brockway, PA; died on Tuesday February 27, 2024 at Christ the King Manor in DuBois, PA. Born on September 25, 1926 in Columbus, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Josephine Bugh Myers. Eileen was a 1945 graduate of the West High School in Columbus.  On March 13, 1945 she was married to Wayne R. Hughes and he preceded her in death on October 20, 2007.  Retired, Eileen had been employed as a secretary in the Speech and Therapy Department at Scioto Memorial Hospital in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly, Ohio. In her retirement, Eileen enjoyed working as a volunteer at Bristol Village Retirement Center and at the Pike County Hospital in the snack bar. She also enjoyed weaving. Eileen is survived by a daughter Shari (Bill) Crysler of Burton, Ohio; 2 sons Terry W. (Lynn) Hughes of Brockway, PA; Timothy (Linda) Hughes of Lake Forest, CA; 9 grandchildren: Christopher Hughes, Craig Hughes, Cory Hughes, Brad Crysler, Matt Crysler, Mandy Wilson, Megan Mertz, Ryan Hughes and Lindsay Smith. She is also survived by 25 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by a brother Donald Myers. There will be no public visitation.  A private Funeral Service and burial will be at Sunset Cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. Memorial donations may be made to the Moorhead Methodist Church PO Box 233 Brockway, PA 15824 or the Gateway Humane Society PO Box 678 Falls Creek, PA 15840.
