Edith Mary Berardi, age 97, passed away on July 11, 2024 at the Teresian House Nursing Home in Albany, NY. Born March 18, 1927 in Brockport, PA she was the daughter of the late Adelia and Guilio Cretti. She was married at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Brandy Camp, PA on June 24, 1950 to Dominick (Tony) Berardi who preceded her in death on November 22, 2014. They had a loving marriage of 64 years and resided in Brockway. She was a member of the St. Tobias Catholic Church where she was a Eucharist minister, a member of the Rosary Society and a volunteer preparing funeral luncheons. Edith worked at Beadle’s Department Store in Brockway for many years and later at the Brockway Area School District where she retired in 1989. She enjoyed her retirement with Tony through travels out west with family and friends and they also tested their sea legs on a memorable cruise. Edith loved her family and enjoyed having her young grandchildren stay over for weeklong summertime visits. It was always a treat to sample her delicious Italian dishes and wonderful homemade breads. She enjoyed bowling both with her husband as well as in ladies leagues and was a member of a neighborhood card club. Edith is survived by a son, Randal (Michele) Berardi of Lancaster, PA; daughter-in-law, Linda Berardi of Clifton Park, NY; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a large extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, Edith was also preceded in death by her eldest son, Anthony, infant son Terrance as well as seven sisters; Sue Palermo, Viola Weise, Rose Benigni, Dolores Granelli, Julia Paruolo, Lena Cretti, Joanne Murone and four brothers; John, Louis, Julius and James Cretti.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, July 17 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. at the Shugarts Funeral Home in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 18 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Tobias Church also in Brockway with Fr. John Detisch presiding and Msgr. Charles Kaza con-celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery.
