Dorothy Marie (Himes) Raybuck passed away on July 4, 2021 at her home in Brockway, PA.  Dorothy was born on February 16, 1924 in Brookville.  She was the daughter of Daniel and Elsie (Smith) Himes.  On November 28, 1945 in Hazen, PA, she married Perry Wendell Raybuck.  They were married for 69 years prior to his death in November of 2014.  They lived on their farm in Sugar Hill until 1995 when they moved to Brookville and then in 2012 they moved to Wood Street in Brockway, PA.

Dorothy was a member of the Hazen United Methodist Church for many years.  She was a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Treasurer of the True Blue Sunday School Class and could always be found in the kitchen helping to prepare food for bazaars, funeral dinners and fund raisers.   She also helped prepare Christmas gift boxes for shut-ins.  Dorothy enjoyed baking pies for the Firehall, cooking, canning, sewing, embroidering, knitting and crocheting and cutting hair.  She loved babysitting her local grandchildren and visiting and helping her Virginia grandchildren.  She and Wendell always enjoyed visits from the Virginia family.  Dorothy was also involved with the Senior Citizens group in Brookville where she helped with the Sunshine Line distribution and membership enrollment.  She made many good memories on the various sightseeing trips the group took.

Prior to her marriage Dorothy worked at Talon in Meadville, PA.  She was a homemaker for the first 20 years of her marriage, raising her children and taking care of the farmhouse she and Wendell had bought.  In 1965 she began working at G.C. Murphy’s in Brookville.  Later she worked for 13-1/2 years at the Jefferson County Courthouse in the Register and Recorders Office, and also in Domestic Relations.  She retired in 1989.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Clair Himes, David Himes, Helen Resinger, Mary Lindemuth and Laura Fuller.  She was also preceded in death by son, Edward Raybuck and son-in-law, Rich Moore.  She is survived by daughters Nancy Moore and Barbara (Rod) Beers, and son, Paul (Mary) Raybuck.  Dorothy has 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
