Donald Allen Wingard

Donald Allen Wingard went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. Donald Allen Wingard was born on January 26, 1936 to Russell Don Wingard and Edna Maude Calhoun Wingard at the Bradford, PA hospital. Donald attended the M.J. Ryan Elementary School and graduated from Bradford Senior High School in 1954. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Penn State University from 1954-1956. He was a member of the Air Force ROTC for two years while at Penn State. He graduated from Houghton College, Houghton, NY with a B.A. Degree in 1959. He completed a Masters Degree from the State University of NY at Cortland in 1964 with a major in Math. Donald attended two National Science Foundation Institutes in Holland, Michigan and Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. Don taught high school math at Addison Central School in Addison, NY, Arcade Central School in Arcade, NY, Union-Endicott High School in Endicott, NY, and Clarence Senior High School in Clarence, NY for a total of thirty five years. 
 

Don Served actively in several churches as Sunday School teacher and Superintendent and was on several church boards where he lived. Presently he is a member of Treasure Lake Church in DuBois, PA. He was active in the Munderf, PA area as an auditor for Polk Township.
 

Donald and his family spent time during several summers volunteering on Native American Reservations in Arizona and Montana working with many missionaries. Don enjoyed teaching Math and working with his high school students, fishing, hunting, camping, local stock car racing, his Mustang cars, New Holland tractors, reading historical books, Readers Book Club at the library, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his many cats and dogs over the years. 
 

Donald married Donna Mae Rude Wingard on August 16, 1963. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2013. Donald is survived by his wife, Donna, two sons, Dr. David Donald Wingard (Pamela) from Michigan and Dr. Darren Murray Wingard (Christine) from Virginia and five grandchildren, Joshua, Katelyn, Nathaniel, Gabriella, and Analea. He is also survived by sister-in-laws Audrey Wingard, Elaine Apple (James), Charlotte Rude and several cousins, nieces and nephews. 
 

Donald is predeceased by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Murray and Ila Rude, brother, Morris, grandparents, Henry and Ella Wingard, and Elmer and Mary Ann Calhoun, and several nieces, nephews, three brothers-in-law, and many cousins. 

At the request of the family, all viewing and services will be private. Please remember Don as a relative or friend when he was healthy, strong, a firm believer in Jesus, and as he is now in Heaven. Burial will be in Munderf Cemetery where many other Wingards are laid to rest. Memorials may be sent to Mengle Memorial Library, 324 Main St., Brockway, PA 15824 or St. Jude Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
