Deacon Bob DeNoon Obituary

Deacon Robert “Bob” DeNoon age 81 of DeNoon Lane Brockway, PA; died on Tuesday October 12, 2021 at his residence. Born on November 23, 1939 in Meadville, PA; he was the son of the late Robert and Phyllis Britton DeNoon. On December 21, 1963 he was married to Sue Wagley and she survives. Bob graduated from High School in Lapel Indiana in 1956. As a high school student he enjoyed playing the trombone in the school band. After graduation he attended Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana where he obtained his Bachelors Degree. Bob had a 35 year career with the Boy Scouts of America as a Field Executive. After his retirement from scouting, he was ordained a Permanent Deacon on June 4, 1999 by Bishop Donald Troutman. His primary ministry was to become head of the Pastoral Care Team at what is now Penn Highlands DuBois. He held this position for 16 years. After his retirement from Penn Highlands, he remained on the Ethics Committee and still does to this day. During this time and even after Deacon Bob provided further ministerial duties and responsibility’s at St. Tobias Church in Brockway.  His career with the Boy Scouts caused the family to move around frequently, but Bob always got involved in the community wherever they went. He served as past president of the Lockport Rotary Club in Lockport, NY and was the Boy Scout Executive for the Lewiston Trail Council in Lockport. Scouting was never out of his blood and he is past president of the local Bucktail Council, and is still on its Board of Directors.   He was a Special Deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriffs office for over 20 years. Deacon Bob was an avid John Deere tractor enthusiast and enjoyed collecting the older models, not just to look at but to use regularly on the farm. He was a lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed target shooting. He also had a soft spot in his heart for animals and wildlife.  Deacon Bob loved working on his family farm and spending time with his children and grandchildren. In addition to his wife he is also survived by 2 sons: Rob DeNoon of Brockway and Stuart (Jennifer) DeNoon of Brockport as well as by 2 grandsons Sam and Jack. Friends will be received on Friday, October 15 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway. A parish Vigil Service will be held at 8 PM.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday October 16 at 11 AM also at St. Tobias Church with Bishop Lawrence T. Persico presiding. Burial will follow on the DeNoon/Britton Meadow Family Farm. Memorial donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.
