Concetta "Mary" Matthews

Concetta E. “Mary” or “Tenny” Matthews age 100 of Spruce Street Brockway, PA; died on Thursday December 8, 2022 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway. Born on April 24, 1922 in Brockway, PA; she was the daughter of the late John and Philomena Catalano Landini. On February 15, 1947 she was married to John R. “Jack “Matthews and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1985. Retired, Mary started out working at Brockway Glass as a secretary. She then became the Post Master at the post office in Elbon and held that position for over 5 years. She then transitioned into the office at G.C. Murphy Co. in Ridgway. Eventually she made her way back to where it all began in the office’s at Brockway Glass and back to her secretarial duties. Mary was a member at Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp all of her life up and until it closed. She then became a member at St. Tobias Church in Brockway. She was a member of the Progressive Women’s Club in Brockway and Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, card games, knitting and taking trips to the casino. What she enjoyed most was spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by 3 daughters: Kathleen (Paul) Weisner of Winter Garden, FL; Mary Jo (Robert) Schutz of St. Marys, PA; Jamie (Joseph) Sickeri of Brockway; a brother John “Junior” Landini Jr. of DuBois, PA; grandchildren: Kristine Thomas, Paul (Julie) Weisner, Robert (Amy) Schutz, Daniel Schutz, Jason (Trish) Schutz and Darlene (Jason) Bender. She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter Rylan. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by brothers Jacob “Jack” Landini, Michael Landini sisters: Helen Ralston, Christine “Dolly” Stine and a great granddaughter Taylor Schutz. There will be no public visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with Fr. John Detisch presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Brockwayville Depot 425 Depot Street Brockway, PA 15824.
