Cesare Giacinto Salandra age 75 of Charleston, West Virginia and Azel, Texas died on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at the Charleston Area Medical Center. Born on September 22, 1945 in Brockway, PA; he was the son of the late Octavius and Angelina Mastri Salandra. Cesare started out his extensive career at Brockway Glass as an Engineer. From there he put his vast engineering knowledge to work and was employed by Miller Brewing Company. From Miller he went on to Pace Foods and spent a considerable amount of time there where he developed a close relationship with the owner. It was during this time he went into business for himself starting the House of Ceramics and becoming a partner in a car dealership in Texas. Cesare also was and is to this day a partner in True Value Hardware in Brockway. Catholic by faith, he was baptized and grew up in St. Tobias Parish in Brockway. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve at Ft. Sill in Oklahoma in the Army’s Field Artillery and Air Defense Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He is survived by his long time companion Anita Goodwin of Charleston, WV; 2 sisters: Clemintine “Dena” Heglas of North Kensington, MD; Maria Dickstine of Miami, Florida; 5 brothers: Alphonse Salandra of Buffalo, NY; Clyde (Carol) Salandra; twin brothers John Salandra and Anthony (Kay) Salandra; and Donald (Karen) Salandra all of Brockway. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by an infant half brother. Calling hours will be on Monday, July 26 from 3PM to 7PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 27 at 10 AM at St. Tobias Church with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Reynoldsville. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
