Anthony R. “Tony” Berardi, 70, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, at Saint Peters Hospital in Albany, NY.
Born November 25, 1951, in DuBois, PA, he was the eldest son of Dominick and Edith Berardi. He married March 4, 1978, to Linda Hood and celebrated 43 years of marriage.
Anthony attended and graduated from Central Catholic High School in Dubois, PA. He went on to earn two Bachelor’s degrees in Economics and English Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.
Anthony started his career at RadioShack where he was quickly promoted to District Manager in Rochester, NY and then subsequently promoted again to District Manager in Boston, MA. He spent six years in Boston where three of his children were born prior returning to Rochester, NY to join Kodak. Anthony worked at Kodak for 19 years, during which time he welcomed two more children into his family and rose to become the World Wide Director for Magnetic Media and Retail Operations. After a long tenure at Kodak, Anthony went on to take positions at ITT as Manager of International and Homeland Security Business Segments and Corning as Manager of Global Portfolio Management before eventually retiring. In retirement he spent considerable time volunteering with local business development groups and Veteran non-profit groups in the Rochester, NY area. He helped entrepreneurs create successful businesses of their own as part of SCORE and worked with the Veterans Outreach Center to help veterans become financially stable.
He is a devout Catholic; as a young boy he served as an Alter Server at Saint Tobias in Brockway, PA where this love of the church carried throughout his life and his faithful dedication to attending weekly mass became an inspiration to others.
Although Anthony’s life is marked by significant professional achievements and a commitment to the Catholic Church, he felt his single greatest accomplishment was his family. He took tremendous pride in being a faithful husband and a deeply loving father to his five children. Anthony valued nothing greater than family and spent his life as a living example of those values.
Throughout every avenue of his life, Tony made life-long friendships and was deeply touched and endeared by all of these individuals. He carried these friendships very close to his heart and they were with him until the very end.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Berardi of Clifton Park, NY; his mother Edith Berardi of Clifton Park, NY; his five children Nicholas (Melinda) Berardi of Vienna, VA; Christopher Berardi of Washington D.C.; Catherine Berardi of Rochester, NY; Theresa (Phillip) Leslie of Milford, PA; Megan (Levi) Pascher of Troy, NY and his seven grandchildren (his 8th due any time), his brother Randal (Michele) Berardi of Lancaster, PA and a large extended family.
Friends will be received from 5-7 pm Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Carlson-Shugurts Funeral Home in Brockway, PA. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am on Monday January 17, 2022 at St. Tobias Church in Brockway, PA with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias cemetery.
