Anne C. Ruth

Anne C. Ruth passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2023 at Guardian Highland View Healthcare Nursing Home in Brockway.  She was born in Johnsonburg on March 29, 1931, daughter of the late Paul and Margaret (Hoh) Eckert.  She married Norman S. Ruth on September 24, 1949 at Holy Rosary Church with Father Kirk officiating.  Norm preceded her in death March 1, 1998. She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church where she taught C.C.D. And was a lector and   Eucharistic Minister.  She was a member of the Holy Cross Rosary Society and  Blue Army.  After Holy Cross Church closed she joined St. Boniface in Kersey. She was a member of the Horton Twp. Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary and the Horton-Brockway Area Lions Club. Anne graduated from Holy Rosary Grade School in 1944 and from Johnsonburg High School in 1948.She was predeceased by her husband, mother & father, one brother John and sisters Kathleen (Dee), Delores (Babe), Francis (Sue), Margaret (Peg), Constance (Connie) and Goddaughter Bobbi Lou Galluzzi.  She is survived by 1 daughter Marilyn (Denny) Iorfida, 2 sons Bill (Jeff Umnitz) and John who was her care taker.  1 grandson Gino, 3 Great grandsons Dominic, Sam and Anthony her sister Betsy and Goddaughter Sharon Gardiner. Visitation will be on Sunday July 9 from 1 PM to 5 PM at the Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway, and again from 10 AM to 11AM Monday at St. Boniface Church in Kersey. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM with Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
