Wilma J. Olson

Wilma Jean Wise Olson, age 88 , from Lake City (Ridgway) passed away on December 8, 2018. She was born October 12, 1930 in Summerville, PA; and was the daughter of the late Ralph M. Wise and Frances Reitz Wise. She was married for over 61 years to Glenn W. Olson Sr. who preceded her in death in 2009. Wilma’s two siblings, Fred Wise (Midlothian, VA) and James Wise (Detroit, MI) also preceded her in death. She is survived by 4 children: Glenn (Laurie) Olson Jr. of Pueblo, CO, Linnea Shick of Lake City (Ridgway), Marcia (Ray) Shaffer of Richardsville (Brookville) and Curtis (Carol) Olson of Lake City (Ridgway). Wilma is survived by 6 grandchildren: Joshua (Amanda) Olson, Brandi Olson, Aaron (Holly) Shick, Eric (Carrie) Shick, Benjamin Shaffer, Andrew (Chelsea) Shaffer, and 8 great grandchildren: Jade Olson, Braiden Olson, Kaitlyn Shick, Zephyr Shick, Hudson Shick, Tyler Shick, Ella Shaffer and Evelyn Shaffer. She is also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews. Wilma was a member of Lake City UM Church where she served as a pianist for over 65 years. She also was a member of the Port-Lake Civic Club, the Lake City Community Association, United Methodist Women, and served on the election board for many years. In addition to being a hard working farmer’s wife, she worked as a teacher’s aide with special needs children with Intermediate Unit 9. Her interest and talent in artistic things was expressed in her paintings and many craft activities. Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc, Brockway, PA. Interment will be in the Lake City Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 10:00 AM at the Munderf United Methodist Church, 12145 Richardsville Road Brookville, PA 15825, with Pastor Rick Nelson officiating.
