William D. Cox Sr. age 94 of Wood Street Brockway, Pa; died on Friday March 23, 2018 at Penn Highlands DuBois. Born on January 25, 1924 in Emporium, PA; he was the son of the late Charles and Rose Extrom Cox. On May 1, 1954 he was married to Lena Amitrone and she survives and is a resident at Christ the King Manor in DuBois. Retired, Bill had been employed as a Lathe Operator at Brockway Pressed Metals. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Brockway and served in the U.S. Navy as an Apprentice Seaman during WWII. Bill was a member of Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion. He enjoyed word puzzles, woodworking, crafts, tinkering with cars and spending time working in his yard. In addition to his wife Lena, he is also survived by a son William D. (Barb) Cox Jr. of Brockway; 2 daughters Rosanna (John) Gresak also of Brockway and Ramona (Gary) Anderson of Belleville, PA. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Dew, 4 brothers and 8 sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Calling hours will be on Sunday March 25 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway and from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Monday at the Presbyterian Church in Brockway. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Christopher McCloskey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be accorded by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion Monday morning at the church.
