Michael Lopez

Michael Lopez age 94 a resident at Highland View Health Care in Brockway died on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Highland View. Born on December 23, 1924 in Anaheim, CA; he was the son of the late Miguel and Florence Lara Lopez. He was married to Helen Billock and she preceded him in death. Retired, Mike had worked for many years as a janitor for the Brockway School District. He was a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and served on the U.S.S. Saratoga. Mike was a member of the V.F.W. Club; Brockway Sportsmen’s Club and was a member of Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion. He enjoyed gardening, especially growing vegetables and selling them along the road. He is survived by 2 daughters Peggy (Mike) Slade of Paradise, CA; Alice McKinny of Atwater, CA; a son Gary (Michele) Lopez of Eugene, OR; a sister Adele “Ditty” Hague also of California; a step-son Dale Billock of Wetumpka, AL; 10 grandchildren; 10 Step-grandchildren and 10 step great grandchildren. Mike is also survived by his daughter-in-law Shirley Billock of Brockway and his life long friend Francis Connacher also of Brockway. In addition to his parents and his wife he is also preceded in death by 4 brothers: Joseph, Manuel, Frank and Bernard Lopez; 5 sisters: Josephine DeCosta, Frances Macedo, Rose Silva, Carnation Fernandez and Marie Anderson. He is also preceded in death by a step son Lawrence Billock and and 2 step sisters Phyllis Hynds and Shirley Bundy. Calling hours will be on Monday, January 21 from 5 PM to 6 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will follow at 6 PM also at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville. Full Military Honors will be accorded Monday evening at the funeral home by Parson-Marnati Post #95 of the American Legion. Memorial donations may be made to the Brockway Vol. Hose Company P.O.
