Mary Jane Smith

Mary Jane Smith age 85 of Chan Road Falls Creek, PA; died on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the DuBois Nursing Home. Born in Falls Creek on May 11, 1932 she was the daughter of the late Harold and Allene Milliren Britton. She was a 1950 graduate of the Falls Creek High School. On March 16, 1952 she was married to John H. “Jack” Smith and he preceded her in death on June 13, 2011. Retired, Mary Jane had been employed as an accountant at Brockway Glass and for Allegheny Airlines at the DuBois/Jefferson County Airport. She was a member of the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church where she had served as a church Elder. Mary Jane was an accomplished artist and enjoyed spending many winters in Florida. Her life was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her optimistic nature was an inspiration to all that knew and loved her. She is survived by a daughter Karen (Mike) Hartley of Bonita Springs, Florida; 4 sons: Lynn (Barb) Smith of Falls Creek; Jeff (Sherry Stellabuto) Smith and Randy (Laura Holt) Smith both of Falls Creek and Chris (Sue Wells) Smith of DuBois; 2 sisters: Karen (David) McMahon of Rochester, NY;  Linda Meyer of Waterford, MI and 1 brother Ronald (Joan) Britton of Falls Creek, PA.  Mary Jane is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Nathaniel (Amanda) Smith of Johnstown, PA; Jason Smith of Houston, TX; Nicole Becker of Naples, FL; Kristin (Zachary) Michaux of DuBois; Abby (Ken) Gross of Brockway; Brian Smith of Stuart, FL; Alisa Smith of Naples, FL; Matthew Smith of Sharon, PA; Jonathon Smith of Charlotte, NC; Kyle Smith of Orlando, FL; Brandon Smith of Brockway and 4 great grandchildren: Madison, Addilyn, Colten and Chase.  In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by 3 brothers: John, Dean and William Britton. Calling hours will be on Wednesday,  September 13  from 2-5 PM and 6-8 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. The Funeral Service will be on Thursday September 14 at 11:00 AM at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church with Pastors David and Emily Koehler officiating. Burial will be in the Beechwoods Cemetery.
