Mabel Irene Cooper, age 88, of Falls Creek, Pa., passed away on Sunday, December 23rd in the comfort of her home. She was born on May 24th, 1930 to Merle and Pearle Raybuck. On September 27th, 1951, Mabel married Edward "Blake" Cooper and started a family. Among many characteristics, Mabel was said to have "never met a stranger." Mabel held secretary roles at both the Washington Mutual Insurance Company and the Beechwoods Cemetery. Mabel and Blake were active in the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church. Mabel served many positions in her church community, including deacon and as one of the first female elders. In addition, Mabel was proud of her elected role as the President of the Falls Creek Area Republican Women's Council from 1969 to 1970. She was equally proud of achieving the 7th and highest degree of membership in The Grange. Mabel was most known by her skilled passion for cooking, and for creating the Cooper Farm Market Pumpkin Fest, which started in 1989. Through school field trips, family fun, and delicious baked goods, Mabel continues to spread joy throughout the community. Most importantly, Mabel was incredibly proud of and cared deeply for her family. Mabel's beloved spirit lives on through brother Ronald (Mary Margaret) Raybuck of Reynoldsville, four children: Nancy (Walter) Musselman of Claysburg, Robert (Donna) Cooper of Falls Creek, Susan Cooper of Falls Creek, Jeanne (Larry) Mowry of Claysburg, and four grandchildren: John (Hope) Patterson, Michael Bullington, Emma Cooper, and Hayes Cooper. Mabel was preceded by her husband E. Blake, her son Edward, and brothers William and Harold. Calling hours will be on Friday December 28 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday December 29 at 11:00 AM at the Beechwoods Presbyterian Church with Pastors Dave and Emily Koehler officiating.
