Howard Eugene Pontious age 79 a resident at Toby Terrace in Brockway, PA; died on Saturday June 8, 2019 at UPMC – Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born on June 17, 1939 in Mt. Jewett, PA; he was the son of the late Alvin and Olive Himes Pontious. He was married to Darlene Pontious for 28 years and she survives and lives in Brockway. Retired, Howard was employed at Oak Heritage as a Craftsman. He was Protestant by faith and was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Howard was a member of the Hughs-Skiba American Legion Post #535 in Salamanca, NY; he was a past member of the Masonic Lodge and the Eastern Star. Howard enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and whistling a good tune. He is also survived by a daughter Tracy Pontious of Brockway; 3 sons: Kevin (Ellie) Pontious; Allen (Kelly) Pontious both of Brockway and Larry Pontious of Reynoldsville; a sister Dorothy Swanson of Brockport; a brother Irvin Pontious of Emporium, PA; 6 grandchildren: Leroy, Mathew, Nathan, Ethan, Ashleigh and Madison and one great granddaughter Sophia. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death a sister Shirley Anderson and a brother Floyd Pontious. All services for Howard will be private at the convenience of his family. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway. Memorial donations may be made to any Veterans Organization in memory of.
