Edward J. Kite age 65 of Allens Mills Road Reynoldsville, PA; died on Monday, February 5, 2018 at his residence. Born on July 15, 1952 in DuBois, PA; he was the son of the late Lewis and Leona Lockwood Kite. On March 3, 1981 he was married to Jean Beck and she survives. Ed is a 1972 graduate of the Brookville High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in North Dakota. There he was trained as a Mini Missile Mechanic. After his discharge, Ed returned home and went to work on the Quinn Farm. He briefly worked at Simco in Sykesville, but found himself back at the farm where he enjoyed the work. As the years passed he found himself employed at the Reynoldsville Casket Company and from there he retired. After retirement he enjoyed helping out with Jean’s Kountry Kitchen, a business his wife started traveling to farmers markets and such selling food and other items. Ed was Methodist by faith and attended the Allens Mills United Methodist Church as a youth. He enjoyed crafts. Ed especially enjoyed spending time with his grandson Dakota, watching him play baseball and taking him to scouts and scouting events. In addition to his wife he is also survived by a daughter Stacie Rhed, and a son Robert Kite both of Allens Mills; a sister Sheila (Bill) Johnson of Brockway; 2 brothers: George (Evelyn) Kite of Raleigh, NC; David (Judy) Kite of Falls Creek, PA and his grandson Dakota Rhed. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a brother James and a nephew Andy Kite. Calling hours will be on Wednesday, February 7 from 2-4 PM & 6-8 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 8 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor Don Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Temple Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Allens Mills United Methodist Church or Penn Highlands DuBois Hospice.
