Matthew J. Munro

Matthew James Munro age 81 of Allens Mills Road Reynoldsville, PA; (previously of Punxsutawney, PA)  passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars, PA. Born on June 27, 1936 in DuBois, PA; he was the son of the late Clifford and Mae Crawford Munro. On November 23, 1957 he was married to Katharine L. Lent and she survives. Retired, Matthew spent his whole life as a truck driver, for local company Womeldorf Inc. of DuBois, and later hauling new cars for Anchor Motor Freight.  He attended the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Hazen, and was a life long member of the Teamsters Union. Matthew enjoyed tinkering around his home, especially fixing cars, and was known by many people in the area by his CB handle “Tinker Man.” He also enjoyed traveling, telling jokes and stories, camping and spending time with his family. In addition to his wife Katharine, he is also survived by 2 daughters: Arlene (Phil) Heitzenrater of Punxsutawney; Beth (Michael) Armstrong Sr. of Brookville; 1 son: Allen (Carrie) Munro also of Brookville and a sister Ruth (Carl) Duttry of DuBois, PA. He is also survived by a granddaughter Raylene Heitzenrater and her fiancé Joe Gourley, 2 grandsons Christopher Munro and Michael Armstrong and 1 great grandson Mason James Munro. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a infant daughter Joan Munro and a brother Richard Munro. Calling hours will be on Sunday, July 2 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc in Brockway, PA. The Funeral Service will be on Monday, July 3 at 11:00 AM also at the funeral home with Pastor Don Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen.
