Irma Baka

Irma Baka age 87 a long time McCain Street Brockway, PA resident died on February 15, 2017 at Highland View Health Care in Brockway. Born on December 14, 1929 in Frankfurt A/M Germany; she was the daughter of the late Karl and Maria Wagner Wagenknecht. On April 30, 1960 she was married to Thomas E. Baka and he preceded her in death on January 5, 2017. Retired, Irma had been employed at Brockway Glass as a Packer from 1959 to 1971. She also served as a School Crossing Guard, helping kids safely cross at 3rd and Alexander Street for many years. Irma enjoyed playing bingo and her greatest joy in life was spoiling her granddaughter. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Janet Baka of Brockway; a granddaughter Stephanie Baka of DuBois; a great granddaughter Melody Rose Baka; a sister Kitty of of Frankfurt; 2 brothers Peter (Renate) Wagenknecht and Richard Wagenknecht both of Frankfurt. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by a son Tommy Baka and a sister Claire. Calling hours will be on Saturday, February 18 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A Funeral Service will be held at 12:00 noon also at the funeral home with Rev. Victor Baxter officiating. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
